Laura Tarantino

is Associate Professor at the Department of Information Engineering, Computer Science and Matemathics of the University of L'Aquila, where she teaches courses on 'Design of Interactive Systems' and 'Computer Architectures'. From 2002 to 2005 she was Director of the Computing Center of the School of Engineering of the University of L'Aquila. Her primary research activity is in Human-Computer Interaction with interest on the formalization of information visualization formalisms and interaction paradigms with application to Database and Information Systems in general, and more specifically to Technology Enhanced Learning systems and Disaster Management Systems. She also worked on object-oriented databases, focusing on query languages based on the integration between the logic programming paradigm and the o-o paradigm. She published over 100 scientific papers in international journals, books and conference proceedings. She is referee for several international journals, and appears regularly in organizing committees of international and national conferences and workshops. From 1996 to 2005 she was in the Organizing and Steering Committees of the International Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces (AVI) series. Since 2009 she is in the Organizing Commitee of the International Conference itAIS series.
